Instructions to make Chana masala:

  1. Heat onions, garlic and ginger til onions soft (low heat) / brown.
  2. Add lemon juice, cumin seeds and salt.
  3. Cut the potatoes into small pieces.
  4. Once onions are brown and soft turn heat down, add a bit of water so spices dont burn. Add all the dry spices and mix.
  5. Fry for 3-5min, add some water if dry. Turn into a paste.
  6. Add tomatoes. Add some Puree (optional) or half -3/4 tin of chopped tomatoes. Add water if too thick..
  7. Add optional extras cream or yoghurt 1 dessert spoon.
  8. Add chickpeas and potatoes, bring to the boil so bubbling and then simmer for 10-15 mins.
